SORT: Songs On Repeat This week (9)

I’ve decided to have a special weekly post where i share what songs i was hooked on in no order.

25 Jun – 1 July:

Verbal Jint feat. Jeong Yeol of 10cm – Good morning

This is one of the more well-known song off Verbal Jint’s latest album. The music is mainly made up of the piano and electronic beats, simple yet effective as usual is this classic duet between beats and the piano’s melody (and the bass, more obvious later on). Jeong Yeol’s voice (that has a hint of huskiness) matches perfectly with Verbal Jint’s rap. The jazzy feel during some parts fits in very nicely, evidence of a good arrangement on the part of Verbal Jint. His rap in this song is also more keyed towards a singing feel. The song is catchy in it’s ‘Good good morning’ and jazzy parts. This song really showcases Verbal Jint as a producer.

Shin Bora – Tears of Longing

Part of the Brave Rascals in Gag concert, but now known as the comedienne that can sing very well, Shin Bora contributes to the OST of the show Phantom or Ghost. First of, i must say she’s not pretty for a comedienne, but with a voice like that, many can only wonder why she won’t debut as a singer (she did say she thought she wasn’t good enough, well, it’s better to be a comedienne and stand out for your singing than be part of so many kpop groups but to only be average). This song starts of with a bit of a thriller theme, with creepy melodies from the strings and the piano (i love the cello parts as usual). Shin Bora’s lower and fuller voice is well suited to this darker music. Amazingly, her voice changes to that of an angel at the chorus. The arrangement of this song is quite interesting. The music itself actually tells a story on it’s own, it feels like at first there’s despair then hope comes at the chorus (though the lyrics might say otherwise), making it all a very good listen. And i think Shin Bora did the song it’s deserved glory with her vocal skills, i hope she releases more solo songs (that are as good).

Park Eun Woo – Everyday

The OST of A Gentleman’s Dignity drama, this is the song for my favourite couple (Yoon – Meari couple). The song is amazingly sweet with Eun Woo’s lighter vocals and the lightness of the music. This is a great song to listen to while traveling and looking out the window. Simple and uncomplicated.

Bo Kyung & Shayne – What did you do to me

This song has a more acoustic feel or at least band music, rather than electronic music which is always welcomed in my iPod. Shayne’s more feminine voice goes very well with Bo Kyung’s lower voice. Their sleek vocals but this a very smooth listen. (i heard about Shayne about a couple of years ago and check out this youtube videos, he has really come a long way to achieve his dreams -amazing what a bit of styling can do- and i wish him all the best.)

Well, that’s all folks. Look out for the next sunday’s update of my SORT.
