VIXX: new ‘Superhero’s

One of the latest boy band (yet again) to join the ever-growing list of korean boy bands (Thank goodness it’s going to stop awhile because this is the month of major comebacks). VIXX has 6 members whom were chosen by the audiences from the show ‘Mydol’, their group name was also voted by audiences. This makes this band ‘the people’s band’, almost anyway.

Starting with the song, it’s catchy and not bad, though the music (just the front part) does remind me of another boy band’s music which i can’t remember now. Thankfully it’s not enough to hinder them making this their sound. It’s ultimately a dance track so we get lots of electronic music and synthesizer. The song is basically them promoting themselves as Superheroes. (what is with this trend of super powers anyway) The arrangement of this song is smooth and pretty sleek. Everything is in it’s place (rap parts, vocal parts) and the song grows on you. Not bad for a debut song, which is more than i can say for the MV.

First of all the squarish dance set doesn’t really fit with the other dance sets. It’s out of place and seems like it belongs with another MV. And what’s with the pink rotating thing. It not gives us a headache, but i have no idea what i’m looking at. The only dance set i liked was the one with a cartoony background and one-colour flooring. I liked the idea of them associating cartoon and superheroes, but they could have taken it up a notch, and i don’t mean adding more pink. Oh gawd. The choreography is decent, nothing to tough but at least doesn’t seem weird.

They get brownie points for doing their debut stage live! Well, i can see why they were chosen by the audience. Good job guys!
